Breakdown of Final Thoughts on Tech in the Classroom

Image
Technology :   During the duration of my experience in Ed Tech, I was able to acquire many useful skills that will add to my teaching philosophy. I used a vast variety of Google tools, curriculum-related apps, video tools, and types of coding games. My experience using the tools was well, most were accessible to the public and allowed for multiple points of teaching. I enjoyed all the tools and apps I found free, it is always a pain when you have to pay to learn. From January to April, I was able to learn how to create active and engaging slide shows, which was my favourite topic I learned. Doing my digital lesson plan, I had to have multiple points of engagement, online assessment techniques and focus on higher-order Bloom's level learning. After completing the digital lesson plan, I hold myself to a high level of confidence and preparedness in teaching using various forms of technology tools and techniques. The assignment, though time-consuming, helped me to further develop one

The Benefits of Google Tools

My Familiarity with Google Tools I was fortunate enough to be in school when the digital age was rising. I remember in grade six when Chromebooks came into my middle school. Our principal came in and gave a tour of Google and how to use Google Classroom. I remember being so fascinated with all that Google had to offer, I never thought there would be a day where we would do work online. I recall the first time using Google Classroom and how much trial and error there was. Not only were students trying to learn how to use it but also the teachers were learning as well. My favourite Google tool is by far Google Docs. As basic as that sounds, it is not only a free writing tool but also easy to use. It is fundamental to me currently as I can save my docs as a PDF, plain text, etc. Another Google tool I enjoy using is Google Forms. It is a functional and easy-to-use tool that can be accessed for a variety of reasons. Teachers can use it to have students do tests, it can be used as surveys, o

Social Media Presence in Teaching

Image
I had the pleasure of doing a meeting with a social media presence in teaching, Laurie MacIntosh.    The biggest takeaway from the meeting with MacIntosh is how to properly use your social media. It is crucial and fundamental that you follow educators who not only align with your philosophies but also challenge those beliefs. You want to follow individuals who will make you see all sides to education, not just what you believe is the correct way to teach. Having all these connections is important to expand your mind and be exposed to all new material. Overall, it is clear how much a social media page can impact you. Getting your name out in the education world would hugely expand your connections! Laurie was a pleasure to learn from.  After meeting with Laurie MacIntosh, it is clear how powerful having a social media presence is. Educators, parents, students, and peers, can collaborate and fully dive into what is happening in a classroom. Professional learning networks are a tool that

Why Blogging is Essential to Educators

Image
When I think about teachers blogging, I immediately recognize the impact it makes for a new resource to educators. Teachers across the globe can access a blog post and use new material and resources that will enhance their practice. Not only do blogs allow access to new resources and new ways of teaching, they also create a sense of community. Teachers from all over the world can connect and collaborate with each other to ensure their students receive the best education possible. Blogging allows for connections, collaborations, and a deeper understanding of teaching and learning.  In George Couros's blog, “ 4 reasons people don't blog and ideas to help change their minds ,” he mentions how educators feel they do not have anything important enough to share. This idea that Couros mentions is essential, as anything being shared about teaching is important. Educators are looking at new ways to enhance their performance every day and give students the best education possible. Shar
